Leonor Fini (1907-1996)
Leonor Fini was born in Buenos Aires, but grew up in the Italian city of Trieste. From an early age she felt the pull of Paris where she lived most of her life. Fini is known for her surreal and erotic paintings and etchings. Leonor Fini belongs to one of the most important female artists of the 20th century. Her surrealist works are related to Salvador Dali, Max Ernst and Giorgio de Chirico, with whom she also had personal ties. The paintings and etchings are represented in important museum collections such as Tate Modern, Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA New York and Fine Arts Museum Brussels.
